DENVER (KDVR) — A semitrailer that caught fire on Interstate 70 near Silverthorne has closed the westbound lanes of the interstate Sunday morning.
According to a Colorado State Patrol spokesperson, the first call came in around 5:45 a.m. Sunday after the semitrailer caught fire. The semitrailer was the only vehicle involved, and at least one person has died.
The westbound side of the interstate is closed at the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel, and drivers are advised to take an alternate route.
Officials have not given an estimated reopening time but said the westbound lanes would be closed for an extended period of time.
CSP said they do not yet know what caused the crash.
