PERRY COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - A driver going the wrong way on Interstate 55 Saturday night resulted in a two-vehicle crash.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, it happened just before midnight on October 11 near the 137 mile marker in Perry County.

MSHP said a minivan was traveling southbound in the northbound lane on I-55 and struck an oncoming passenger car head-on.

The driver of the minivan had to be airlifted to a St. Louis-area hospital for serious injuries. Her vehicle was totaled.

MSHP identified the driver as 34-year-old Amanda N. Skaggs from Potosi, who was later charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance and three counts of second-degree assault.

Her current condition has not been released at this time.
