JaCobian Morgan connected with Nate Rembert for an 18-yard touchdown to take the lead with 50 seconds remaining in Jackson State’s homecoming game against Alabama State on Saturday. A goal-line stand by the Tiger defense wrapped the contest in blue and white and delivered the 38-34 win.
Morgan, a senior from Canton, tied a career high with five touchdown passes. He finished 16 of 23 for 191 yards with scores going to Shemar Savage, Ja’Naylon Dupree (2), Jency Riley Jr., and then the late fourth-quarter dart to Rembert.
The back-and-forth affair ended with Jackson State’s Ashton Taylor tackling Jamarie Hostzclaw short of the goal line after the officials ordered one second to be put on the clock, giving Alabama State one more chance at a game-winner.
