ALEXANDRIA — On Saturday, Oct. 18, a film entitled "The Way We Are" will premiere at the Twin Cities Film Festival.

If area residents think they've heard of the film, they may have — not only because it had its cast and crew showing in Alexandria, but because it was actually filmed in Minnesota.

The film's synopsis reads as follows: "Haunted by her veteran father's suicide — an event she witnessed as a child but no one will discuss — Susan creates a powerful escape. While the Vietnam War rages in her 1970s present, much like Dorothy or Alice in those fantastical stories of Oz and Wonderland, she transports her entire family into a lush, imagined 1940s, seeking answers in a past war.
