In her "It's Our Turn" column in the Oct. 3 issue of the Echo Press, Lisa Johnson informs us that Terminator: The Musical, an upcoming production at UMM, is "a coping manual for our times," because it is an 'absurdist drama', and "We're living in an absurdist drama."
Johnson supports these claims by explaining that "Key characteristics of absurdist drama... include things like the idea that life has no meaning, people are trapped in incomprehensible situations, 'surreal or illogical settings, plots, and actions,' language as no longer a tool of communication but instead, 'highlights the breakdown of understanding,' dark humor, and themes of despair and anxiety."
