A surfer astonishingly managed to drive himself to hospital for emergency treatment after being attacked by a shark, despite suffering two bites on his leg.

The man, in his 50s, is thought to have come across a bronze whaler shark, which can reach lengths of 3.3m and weigh up to 300kg.

The horrifying incident occurred around 1.37pm on Tuesday, as reported by Shark Watch South Australia, at D'Estrees Bay in an area known as The Sewer on Kangaroo Island.
