A 45-year-old Simcoe man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his mother .

Justin Morgan, 45, was arrested and charged by police in Norfolk County with the second-degree murder of 71-year-old Barbara Morgan on Oct. 10, Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a press release Saturday evening. He was to appear in court on Saturday, police said.

Sanchuk confirmed to The Canadian Press the accused is the son of the dead woman .

Barbara Morgan was found dead inside a house on Head Street South by police around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5 . A police press release said a post-mortem examination determined she had been murdered.

Police told The Spectator on Friday an autopsy was scheduled and the forensic investigation was ongoing.
