SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Law enforcement is investigating after a deadly crash on I-70 in Summit County Sunday morning.

According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), troopers responded at 5:42 a.m. to a crash involving a semi with a trailer on westbound I-70 at milepost 208.

CSP said the semi went off the right side of the road, crashed and caught on fire.

All of the people inside the semi were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said first responders cannot yet confirm the number of people inside the semi due to extensive damage to the vehicle.

As of 11 a.m. on Sunday, westbound I-70 is closed with no timeframe for reopening as the investigation continues. Travelers in the area should anticipate an extended closure.
