Drake Maye helped get the Patriots on the board in the first quarter against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday with a touchdown pass to DeMario “Pop” Douglas .

Not only was it New England’s first scoring play of the afternoon, it marked a first for the quarterback.

Maye’s pass to Douglas traveled 40 yards down the field, marking the farthest he’s thrown a completion in his career. Prior to that, the 23-year-old was 0-for-5 on passes from 40-plus yards downfield, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss .

After a thrilling upset over the Buffalo Bills in Week 5, Maye and the Patriots will look to carry that momentum into New Orleans against the one-win Saints .
