Vancouver Canucks defenceman Tyler Myers has been handed a $2,500 fine for slashing Edmonton Oilers star captain Connor McDavid, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Sunday.
The $2,500 fine — the maximum allowable under the CBA for the infraction — stems from a tense moment during the Oilers’ 3-1 victory over the Canucks last night.
The incident occurred midway through the third period when McDavid was skating towards the net as Myers appeared to catch him between his legs with his stick. The Canucks’ defenceman was not assessed a penalty on the play but did get a delay of game infraction slightly after.
That was not the only form of discipline handed out by the league as Utah Mammoth defenceman Ian Cole was fined $2,500 for a dangerous trip against Nashville Predators forwar
