POST FALLS, Idaho — Kootenai County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) says one man is dead after a high-speed accident.

KCSO says on Sunday at 1:50 a.m., an Idaho State Police Sergeant saw a motorcycle going 117 mph on I-90 near Spokane Street in Post Falls, Idaho.

Deputies say the Sergeant turned on his police lights and sirens to try to catch the speeding motorcyclist, but it was shortly discovered that the motorcycle had crashed in a roundabout at Chase Road and Prairie Avenue near Post Falls.

KCSO says the rider, 21-year-old Eddie Martinez Lopez, was found a "short distance" from the crash site and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.

Deputies say this crash is still under investigation.
