Dozens of Australian federal police employees have been charged with domestic violence and sexual offences since 2017, new data has revealed, with just seven losing their employment with the federal agency.

Documents obtained under freedom of information laws by The Canberra Times show 21 federal police workers have been charged with offences relating to domestic and family violence in the past nine years.

Of those, 14 cases had criminal charges either withdrawn, dismissed, or resulted in a not-guilty verdict.

Between 2019 and 2024, six federal police employees were charged with sex-related offences, according to separate documents released under freedom of information. Two had charges withdrawn or dismissed.
