HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Heads up, if you’re in the Sand Island area, the city’s doing smoke testing on the wastewater system starting Monday.
It runs from Monday, Oct. 13, to Friday, Oct. 17, weather permitting, during normal business hours.
Crews will be on site fanning non-toxic smoke into the sewer lines to check for cracks or leaks.
The smoke used is non-hazardous and should not enter homes or businesses. However, smoke may enter through defective plumbing or dry drain pipes.
If smoke appears inside your home or building during testing, open windows for ventilation and notify the city at (808)768-7272.
