BARTOW, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Five people are in the hospital following a two-vehicle crash that involved a Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) Battalion Chief.

This happened at 10:40 a.m. Oct. 12, on the intersection of County Road 640 and Mimosa Avenue in Bartow, while responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens according to PCFR.

Car catches fire, multiple school buses involved in crash.

Due to the amount of people involved, PCFR called for the incident to be a level one mass casualty incident response.

Five people including a trauma alert patient were treated and transported to local hospitals.

The PCFR Battalion Chief did not have any injuries.
