DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Fire crews are making steady progress on the Crosby Fire burning inside George H. Crosby Manitou State Park. The fire has now burned about 300 acres and is 50% contained.
The blaze started on Wednesday after a lightning strike. Crews have been using hoses and helicopters to cool hot spots and prevent the fire from spreading.
Today, firefighters are focusing on strengthening the lines around the fire and putting out any remaining areas of heat.
Officials are reminding people not to fly drones near the fire. If a drone is spotted, aircraft fighting the fire have to stop flying for safety.
