DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Three Decatur residents have been displaced after a house fire Saturday night.
The Decatur Fire Department responded to a home in the 1600 block of North Union Street just after 11 p.m.
Firefighters saw smoke coming from two second-floor bedroom windows when they arrived.
According to the fire department, three adults living in the home were asleep when the fire started. Smoke detectors woke them up, allowing them to escape before crews arrived.
The home was deemed temporarily uninhabitable after suffering heavy fire, smoke and water damage. The fire department said the occupants are being helped by friends and family.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
