MARTINSBURG - Dozens of community members gathered at the Caperton Train Station Saturday morning for the annual Out of the Darkness Walk, part of a national effort to raise awareness about suicide prevention and support those affected by loss.

The event, organized by the West Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), drew participants wearing colored beads representing their personal connections to the cause - from white for the loss of a child to blue for shared hope and unity.
