FORT WORTH, Texas — A twin-engine plane crashed Sunday afternoon north of Fort Worth, killing two people, Tarrant County officials said.
The crash occurred Sunday afternoon in the 12700 block of North Saginaw Boulevard, north of Fort Worth near Avondale, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
The crash prompted road closures in the area, and thick, black smoke was seen coming from the site of the crash.
A witness who works at a nearby cafe told WFAA they heard a loud boom, and moments later, a customer ran inside telling them to call 911.
They all ran toward the scene and saw what appeared to be a plane that had crashed into several 18-wheeler-style work trucks that were parked in a nearby lot.
They were not able to get close to the fire because the flames were too intense.
