WASHINGTON — After her arm was caught in her apartment complex's elevator, a Northwest D.C. woman shared she was still recovering in a hospital on Sunday -- more than two weeks after she had to be transported by DC Fire and EMS.

Tijuana was on the fourth floor of the Dorchester House Apartments on 16th Street Northwest when she got stuck on Sept. 26. She gave permission to her neighbor, Paola Beristain, to release her name to WUSA9.

"Tijuana is still in the hospital but is recovering well and in good spirits," Beristain told WUSA9 on Saturday.

Beristain started the fundraiser "Help Our Neighbor Recover!," to support Tijuana's recovery, raising more than $5,000 as of Sunday afternoon. The fundraiser has been aiming for a $12,000 goal.
