OLD TOWN, Fla. (WCJB) - Dixie County Sheriff’s officials confirmed that Deputy Cody Pope is expected to make a full recovery after being shot outside the Old Town Tavern Saturday night.

The Old Town Tavern, a hangout spot in Dixie County, became the scene of an incident that left people in shock.

According to the tavern owner, Domenic Petrarca, the night took a turn when a gunshot hit the bar’s window.

“It was one of those surreal moments,” Petrarca said. “You’re not really sure how you’re going to act when something like that happens. There were several people in there, and we all knew immediately what was going on, but the glass inside was so surreal.”
