(WHTM) — The No. 1-ranked running back in the 2027 class in the nation has decommitted from Penn State amid James Franklin's firing and recent losing skid.
Rivals recruiter Hayes Fawcett reported on X that five-star RB Kemon Spell, who is ranked as the No. 1 running back in the 2027 recruiting class on all websites, has decommitted from Penn State today.
The news comes after ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Penn State fired James Franklin as their head football coach on Sunday, who is owed more than $49 million.
The Nittany Lions had entered the season with championship aspirations and started 3-0 and as a top team in the AP Top 25 Poll. However, after a White Out 2OT loss to Oregon, followed by a road loss to a winless UCLA and a Homecoming Game loss to Northwestern, Franklin was relie
