ELKHART, Ind. -- The City of Elkhart is inviting the community to provide input on the future of the Old Roundhouse site. The Elkhart Redevelopment Department is applying for federal funding from the EPA to clean up the historic site, and community members are invited to help guide the future of the project.

The site once housed two bustling railroad roundhouses and was a residential and commercial hub. After decades of industrial use and demolition in the 1950s, the city acquired the land in 1983. Despite the contamination, the site's location and historical character offer tremendous potential for redevelopment that supports the community's vision.

The city will be hosting two Community Cleanup and Redevelopment public meetings at the Tolson Center on the following dates:
