ATLANTA ( WANF /Gray News) - A teenager who was injured in a boat explosion on a lake in Georgia back in July was released from the hospital.
Matthew Miller had been driving his family’s boat to take seven family members tubing.
Miller, who said he has 25 years of boating experience, said they had to refuel, so he idled in, shut off the engine and turned the blower fans on. He said the boat was well maintained and fairly new.
Miller said that after refueling the boat, they powered it back up and circled back to pick up trash in the water. As family members were reaching into the water to pick up the trash, the back of the boat exploded.
Everyone on board got burned to varying degrees.
According to Miller, his 17-year-old son, Isaac, likely had the longest flame exposure.
