KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville City Council is set to meet on Tuesday and discuss a resolution allowing a traffic study to be done on the Gay Street Bridge.

The resolution would allow Mayor Indya Kincannon to enter an agreement with CDM Smith, Inc. to provide engineering services for the Gay Street Bridge Traffic Study in an amount not to exceed $96,100.

According to the resolution, the survey will evaluate pre- and post-closure traffic data to determine how the bridge’s closure impacts Chapman Highway, Henley Street, James White Parkway and other roads in the area.

Crews have been working on the Gay Street Bridge with plans to reopen to pedestrians and bicyclists by the end of the year, according to the city.
