NEW YORK (PIX11) — A state of emergency has been declared in multiple southern New York counties as stormy weather picks up in the area.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the state of emergency for the following counties: • Bronx County • Kings County • Nassau County • New York County • Queens County • Richmond County • Suffolk County • Westchester County

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman issued the order for his county earlier on Sunday. As much as three inches of rain is expected in the downstate area.

The National Weather Service placed many southern New York areas in coastal flood warnings and wind advisories through Monday night.

The MTA is warning commuters to stay away from any unnecessary travel on Monday, as delays could come as a result of the nor'easter.
