OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police called for backup Sunday afternoon after an officer struggled to detain a shoplifting suspect.
OPD told First Alert 6 officers responded to the Walmart at 50th and Ames around 1 p.m. Sunday for a “Help an Officer” call.
At the scene, officers found an off-duty officer struggling to detain a 16-year-old girl, who they say was resisting arrest. The girl was then taken into custody.
While officers were getting the girl into the cruiser, OPD says she kicked one of the officers in the chest.
The 16-year-old was booed at the Douglas County Youth Center on charges of felony shoplifting, assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and obstructing.
