The Wildcats overcame a 14-0 deficit and a 75-minute lightning delay by scoring 24 unanswered points. Arizona led 24-14 with under five minutes to play. BYU made a 24-yard field goal with 4:08 remaining. Cougars QB Bear Bachmeier tied the game with 19 seconds left on a two-yard touchdown run.

It looked like the U of A scored a touchdown in the first overtime, but Kedrick Reescano's touchdown was called back. The Wildcats settled for a 23-yard field goal. The Cougars made a 45-yard field goal to send the game to double overtime.
