Kemon Spell intimated Friday following McKeesport’s 56-31 victory against Mars that he was vacillating on his commitment to Penn State.

On Sunday, he went from wavering to the open market.

Spell made it official mere minutes after it was reported the Nittany Lions had severed ties with coach James Frankin that he had decommitted from Penn State and reopened his recruiting.

Spell has not returned calls seeking comment.

Spell had said prior to the start of the 2025 season that, though he was committed to Penn State, he would continue to look at other colleges and take recruiting visits. He received an offer from Georgia last week and had already scheduled a visit to Notre Dame for this upcoming weekend.
