BRAINERD — Aralyn Marcelo has turned into an accomplished sprinter.
The Brainerd junior won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles to lead the Warriors to the Section 8-2A True Team title Saturday, Oct. 11. It’s the second straight True Team title for Brainerd, which had never won it before last year.
Marcelo won the 50 free with a 24.87. Luella Guida placed sixth and Emme Murray placed ninth to land three Warriors in the top 10. That was a key reason for Brainerd’s victory, as the True Team format counts every swimmer and diver toward the team points.
Marcelo later won the 100 free in 54.16. Isabelle Ploof finished fourth and Guida seventh for another big point event.
Ploof won the 200 freestyle in 1:59.43. Kaia Iske was right behind with a third-place 2:05.18 and Allie Reilley finished sixt
