The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to finish their Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers without the services of star rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
The Buccaneers announced Egbuka had suffered a hamstring injury and was considered doubtful to return to the game before being ruled out shortly after in the fourth quarter.
It wasn't immediately clear when Egbuka had been injured, but he was seen standing on the sideline during the second half of the game.
The Buccaneers were already without two of their top receivers for Sunday's game. Mike Evans missed the contest with a hamstring injury of his own, while Chris Godwin was out of action due to a fibula injury.
Egbuka recorded two catches for 24 yards before exiting the game because of the injury. He was targeted four times in total by quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Emeka Egbuka injury update
Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles did not provide much additional information about Egbuka's status when asked about it during a postgame news conference.
"Right now, it's a hamstring," Bowles told reporters. "Still evaluating it."
That said, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports Egubka's injury "isn't believed to be serious." The 22-year-old will have an MRI to determine the extent of injury, but it isn't yet clear whether Egbuka will need to miss time.
