ANGOLA — Orange and black sweaters lined the sidewalk outside the Thunder Ice Arena well before the Komets preseason game on Sunday against the Iowa Heartlanders.
Being without a home rink due to renovations at Memorial Coliseum, some fans showed up as early as 5 a.m. to ensure they'd get their free ticket to watch the Komets inside the 600-seat rink at Trine University.
"I feel like that tells you a lot about our organization and how much our fans support us," Komets forward Blake Murray said. "They come out wherever we are, even on the road. When I got traded here last year, I met the team in Iowa and there were like 50 fans at our hotel. I just thought that was crazy. "
