A new Texas law will require almost all county sheriffs to partner with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws. But the law is not expected to change things in Nueces County, which has had an agreement with ICE since 2017, according to Sheriff J.C. Hooper.

Senate Bill 8 goes into effect on Dec. 4.
