CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee is being charged with attempted murder Friday.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Cheryl Gates, 43, was the focus of a domestic violence investigation this week. They arrested her on Friday after speaking with detectives.

She is being charged with: • Attempted murder • Contaminate food or drink to render one mentally incapacitated • Stalking • Damage to Property

Gates was initially charged with the last two counts on Tuesday, but was released on a $5,000 bond.

Her LinkedIn page says she works as a pediatric occupational therapist for the district.
