BANGOR -- Senator Susan Collins is continuing to voice strong opposition to the government shutdown.

On Friday, Senator Collins leveled her frustrations over the Office of Business Management and Budget's attempt to permanently lay off federal workers.

On Sunday, October 12, at an event in Bangor, Senator Collins told reporters that there are important issues at hand that need to be addressed involving the Affordable Care Act and the Advanced Premium Tax Credits. But, she says the first task at hand should be reopening the government.

"That is the immediate crisis, there's no need for it, we can work hard on the ACA tax credits and make sure that they are extended and reformed," said Collins.
