After falling to 3-3 (0-3 in the Big Ten), Penn State completely fell out of both the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the US LBM Coaches Poll.
This comes on the same day the Nittany Lions fired head coach James Franklin in his 12th year in the job.
Penn State did not receive a single vote in either poll after Saturday’s 22-21 loss to Northwestern. They had been ranked No. 22 in the Coaches Poll and received votes (de facto No. 28 team) in the AP Poll last week.
This is the first time since Sept. 6, 2022, that Penn State did not appear in either poll.
The third straight loss to the Wildcats was the final straw for both Franklin and Penn State’s rankings.
Ohio State held onto the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll, followed by Miami, Indiana, Texas A&M and Ole Miss in the top five.
