SARATOGA SPRINGS — Seeking to better define Saratoga Springs’ role in defending employees named in civil or criminal actions, City Council adopted a local law by a narrow margin to replace a long-existing measure on indemnification Oct. 7.

The previous law, first adopted in the 1980s, lacked clarity, said Mayor John Safford, who initiated bringing the issue to the council table earlier this summer.
