LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- On Sunday, dozens of people took a swing at saving lives.

The Nevada Donor Network hosted its first Golf Invitational at the Las Vegas Country Club, raising funds and awareness to expand transplant services right here in Nevada. More than one hundred golfers teed off for an experience and a purpose.

“It’s more than just a golf tournament; it’s actually an experience and it’s an opportunity for us to raise funds for the foundation in our mission to save and heal lives through organ, tissue, and eye donation,” Gordon Prouty, Foundation President of Nevada Donor Network, said.

UMC is the only hospital in the state performing kidney transplants. The hospital can handle about 150 transplants a year, leaving many still waiting for their second chance.
