WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A project by and for the community, a new Wichita memorial is dedicated to educating people about the Holocaust.

A team of local attorneys, historians, and architects is behind the Wichita Holocaust Memorial. They say a physical space for reflection can resonate more deeply than a movie or a book, especially for those connected to Holocaust history.

"Well, the problem I have is that the Holocaust ended 80 years ago in 1945, and to be in the Holocaust either as a victim or as a service person because our service persons raided these camps. They're all dying. Most of the average American soldiers are over 100. Well, how many of those are still living?" Charlie Harris, the historian on the community that worked to get the project together, said.
