MONTREAL — Courtney Sarault won her second gold medal in as many days for Canada at the ISU Short Track World Tour stop in Montreal on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Moncton, N.B., athlete struck gold on Sunday in the women’s 1,500-metre final in a time of two minutes, 22.156 seconds.
She finished ahead of Korean Kim Gilli (2:22.217) and American Corrine Stoddard (2:22.256).
“I was going into the 1,500 metres thinking I could maybe win the race, but I wasn’t sure how my legs would be compared to everyone else’s. This is my first time doing this World Tour format, with the 500 metres and 1500 metres on the same day, so I am proud of myself for finishing those races the way I did,” said Sarault.
“Making an A Final in the 500 metres was nice for me and I’m going to build off that. And I felt I r
