A person was injured in a shooting involving Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies Sunday in Puyallup.

The sheriff’s office did not clarify in a news release whether the person’s injuries had come from deputies’ gunfire.

Deputies were called shortly after noon to a report of domestic violence in the 12600 block of 106th Avenue Court East. When they arrived, shots were being fired from inside the home and a 45-year-old woman had escaped through a window, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s deputies evacuated surrounding homes and tried to negotiate with the person inside, but he continued firing shots. About 20 minutes after they arrived, “deputies reported shots had been fired,” the sheriff’s office said.
