EUGENE, Ore. – Just like any other day at Alton Baker Park, birds can be seen flying around, perched on the trees or walking through a field looking for food. But on Sunday, these birds were celebrated as they start migrating down South.

“Birds are something that bring us together,” Debbie Schlenoff, event organizer, said. “They're beautiful. They're part of who we are as humans. They're part of our literature and poetry and our beautiful artwork and song and music. And so it's so great to be able to bring people together to celebrate them.”

Every year World Migratory Bird Day is celebrated when birds start flying south during the fall and their return home in the spring.
