BEAUMONT, Texas — Southeast Texas has officially entered the portion of the high school football season where every game can make or break a program.
Week 8 features a pivotal District 9-5A Division I matchup as the West Brook Bruins travel to Port Arthur to face the Memorial Titans.
The Bruins have enjoyed a storybook season, emerging as one of the state’s most surprising programs in head coach Chuck Langston’s fifth year at the helm.
At 5-1 overall and 1-1 in district play, West Brook is aiming for its first playoff berth since 2020, the final season under then-coach Eric Peevey.
The Bruins’ offense has been explosive, outscoring opponents 219-71 through six games.
But the defense has been equally impressive. Outside of a 26-point loss to Lufkin, no opponent has scored more than 1
