A Scots woman has opened up about living with excruciating pain for seven years, without being given an official cause for her symptoms.
Poppy Harris, from Aberdeen, knew things were not right when her first period at the age of 13 brought intense pain and bleeding so heavy it soaked through a pad, her tights and school skirt in less than an hour.
Now 20 and studying at university , she said: "I just remember being in so much pain and thinking, surely this isn’t for the rest of my life."
She had her first visit to the hospital shortly after that day, but it was only this year she was formally diagnosed with endometriosis, Aberdeen Live reports .
Until then, she faced seven years of uncertainty, multiple appointments and being dismissed by doctors. S
