ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Loved ones are mourning the loss of a nurse who was killed while heading to work on Thursday by a speeding car that struck him. For those who knew Alec Montoya, he always had a smile, and there was nothing he loved more than making a difference in people's lives.

"But taking away the tears, the thought that he left this world on the way to save lives just emulates who he is,” said Joslin Hausser, a friend and coworker of Alec.

Eli Giles, a friend and coworker, said, "I think he was made to be a nurse."
