PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is dead and a suspect is in custody after a shooting broke out in a Phoenix backyard Sunday night.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting near Maryland and 39th avenues. When they arrived, police found an unresponsive man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scecne. His name has not yet been released.

Police say they took a suspect into custody at the home. They say the two individuals knew each other and that there is no threat to the community.
