Hamas has transferred seven Israeli hostages to the International Committee of the Red Cross — the first group to be released under the ongoing Israel-Hamas ceasefire. The hostages’ conditions remain unknown.

Under the terms of the truce, Hamas is expected to release a total of 20 Israeli hostages in exchange for the freedom of more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. The remaining 13 hostages are anticipated to be handed over later on Monday, according to reports.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the released hostages “are on their way to IDF and ISA forces in the Gaza Strip” and said it is “prepared to receive additional hostages expected to be transferred later today.”
