NEW DELHI (AP) — John Campbell scored his maiden century as West Indies pushed to ensure India would have to bat again in the second cricket test, reaching 252-3 in its second innings at lunch on Day 4.
Campbell, whose previous best was 68 against New Zealand in 2020, scored 115 runs off 199 balls and shared a 177-run partnership with Shai Hope as West Indies reduced India’s lead to just 18 runs.
At the interval, Hope was closing on his third test hundred, unbeaten on 92 runs, and skipper Roston Chase was 23 not out.
India managed just the one wicket in the morning session — Campbell adjudged lbw to Ravindra Jadeja on a slow Delhi wicket.
West Indies was bowled out for 248 runs in its first innings on Day 3, surrendering a lead of 270 runs after India declared at India’s 518.
