Like apparitions from a strange sci-fi universe, giant white plastic tubes lie sprawled across farmland in Washington County.

Perhaps odder than these silent creatures is simply the continued existence of Twin Brook Dairy farm in Bentleyville. After assaults from local mining in the 1970s, battles with increasingly tumultuous weather and constant lashings of the unpredictable commodities market, the family farm was close to shutting its barn doors for good a few years ago.

A fat ration of father-daughter support, gallons and gallons of ice cream, and a tiny pinch of Billie Eilish-approved social media magic helped pull the family farm from the brink.
