STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — On Monday, the United States celebrates both Indigenous People’s Day and Columbus Day.
Because of the holiday, which recognizes the anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ journey to America in 1492, several city agencies will be closed or services will be available on a reduced basis.
The day also honors the history and culture of Native Americans and other indigenous people.
Here’s a look at the closings that may affect Staten Islanders Monday in observance of the holiday:
Staten Island Advance: The newspaper will publish.
Post Office: U.S. Post Offices are closed, and there is no mail delivery.
DMV: The state Department of Motor Vehicles is closed.
Finance: Financial markets are open.
Banks: Some are closed.
Government: Non-essential federal , state
