ROCKFORD, IL — A long-neglected 113-year-old part of Rockford's history could soon be erased from the city's downtown streetscape.
Members of City Council's Finance & Personnel Committee on Oct. 14 will consider a $233,108 contract with Rockford-based Northern Illinois Service Co. to demolish the former Elks Lodge #64 at the corner of North Main and Jefferson streets. It would be paid for with a portion of the city's federal American Rescue Plan Act funding.
